Speculation is growing over the future of Port Adelaide coach Mark William’s future at the club. As June 30 approaches, if no new deal has been agreed upon at the club then he is free to talk with other interested parties.
Of those interested parties it seems that the Richmond Tigers are at the top of the list. They will be without a coach after the weekend because Terry Wallace and the club decided to part ways by mutual consent.
Williams is remaining coy of his position though and is keeping his cards close to his chest. He was asked several times what he thought about the current situation and where his future lies but he avoided the questions with political answers.
It has to be said though that even though his contract is coming near end and a new one hasn’t been agreed upon, he would very much like to extend his stay. He has been quoted as saying that he would consider taking a pay cut to stay at Alberton. That is a fair indication that he would still like to work out a deal.
If Williams doesn’t decide to go to the Tigers then we may well see them scrambling to employ an experienced coach that can lift them from the bottom of the table.
