Saturday, the women’s final of Wimbledon will take place. The match features Maria Sharapova against Petra Kvitova. Sharapova is a 24 year old superstar out of Russia. She has earned over $15 million in her young tennis career, and has won nearly 400 singles matches. At Wimbledon, Sharapova has beat Anna Chakyetadze in two sets, Laura Robson in three sets, Klara Zakopalava, Peng Shuai, Dominika Cibulkova and Sabine Lisicki all in two sets. Sharapova lost in the Semifinals of the French Open to Li Na, after winning the WTA International in Brazil.
Petra Kvitova is a left handed tennis player that is just 21 years old. Kvitova is ranked #8 in the WTA rankings. After losing in the finals of the WTA AEGON International, she has won six matches at Wimbledon. Kvitova started the tournament with a win over Alexa Glatch, beating her 6-2, 6-2. Then, Kvitova beat Anne Keothavong 6-2, 6-1. Kvitova beat Roberta Vinci, Yanina Wickmayer and Tsvetena Azarenka to get to the finals. In her tennis career, Kvitova has won 177 matches and lost 89.
This may be a good match, as most finals are. But when it comes down to it, Sharapova is just too good to lose in this one. Look for Kvitova to give her one of her toughest battles of the tournament, but Sharapova will wear her down with her killer serve and excellent return ability.
Our pick: Maria Sharapova 1.55 over Petra Kvitova 2.45. Bet Sharapova at Centrebet.
The men’s final will feature Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic. Djokovic will celebrate his move to the top of the men’s rankings, and try to come away with a Wimbledon title.
This is not Nadal’s first rodeo, as he is no stranger to the Wimbledon Final. Nadal has earned over $41,000,000 in his tennis career. Nadal holds a 517-108 record in his 600+ matches. Nadal, earlier this season beat his top rival Roger Federer to win the French Open. The win came a day after beating Andy Murray. Nadal at Wimbledon beat the following players: Michael Russell, Ryan Sweeting, Gilles Muller, Juan Martin del Potro, Mardy Fish and then Andy Murray to get to the finals.
Novak Djokovic has been playing professional tennis since 2003. He is just 24 years old and from Belgrade Serbia. Djokobvic has 25 singles titles and a doubles title to his name. In his career he holds a 365-106 record. At Wimbledown, Djokovic has been very impressive downing Jeremy Chardy, Kevin Anderson, Marcos Baghdatis, Michael Llorda, Bernard Tomic and Jo-Wilifried Tsonga. Djokovic lost in the French Open Semifinals to Roger Federer earlier in the season. The last time he played Nadal, he won 6-4, 6-4 to win the ATP International in Italy.
This should be an epic battle between two hungry stars. Nadal has had some injury questions, but his win over Fish showed he must be doing okay. Then he backed it up with a win over Murray. Look for Nadal to be dominate in this battle, and come away with a win.
Our pick: Rafael Nadal 1.65 Novak Djokovic. Bet Nadal at Centrebet.
The 2011 Wimbledon tennis tournament will take place, starting this week, and many call it the best two weeks in televised professional sports. The Wimbledon is being held at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London. The tournament starts on June 20th, and will end right before the 4th of July. This is the 125th edition of the Wimbledon, and as always it is part of the ATP World Tour.
Last year, Rafael Nadal won the title for men’s singles, which was his second overall. Serena Williams was the individual winner on the woman’s side, which was her fourth overall. Jurgen Melzer and Phillip Petzscher won the men’s doubles tournament, and Vania King and Yaroslava Shevdova won the woman’s title. In mixed doubles, Leander Paes and Cara Black came up victorious.
We are going to give you some odds for the singles tournament, on both the men’s and women’s side. There are odds for the doubles and the mixed doubles, but they are not going to be discussed here. Let’s start with woman first. Here is a look at the best chances to win the 2011 Wimbledon Woman’s title:
The defending champion comes in as the favorite for this years title. Serena Williams, in an effort to win her fifth title is listed at +350. Maria Sharapova is listed with the best chance to knock Williams off. She is also listed at +350. She is currently listed as the top woman’s tennis player in the world. Coming in next, is Serena’s older sister Venus Williams. Venus is list at +700. There has been a few times in the history of Wimbledon that the two Williams sisters played each other.
Fourth on the list, and the only other woman’s player with less than 1000 odds is Caroline Wozniacki. She has come from relative unknown to emerge on the tennis scene. She has been playing well, and may be a solid bet for those of you looking to steal some money from the books. A few more include: Na Li (1000) and Petra Kvitova (1000)
Our pick to win the woman’s title in singles at the 2011 Wimbledon is: Maria Sharapova. Sure, we are not going out on a major limb, but we really like this pick. Sharapova is playing well, and will dominate this tournament!
In the men’s tournament: Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are once again going to go at it. There is very little doubt in our mind that this will be the finals once again. These two players are head and shoulders the leaders of the men’s tennis world. They are both listed at +200 for the Wimbledon. While maybe not great pay-out, these are the two safe bets when it comes to betting on the Wimbeldon.
There are two other tennis players that book makers feel can compete and win this tournament, without a major upset. Andy Murray is once again in the picture, and listed at +500. Murray has struggled a little as of late, but looks to be coming out of it with this event. Novak Djokovic is also in the mix, also at +500.
Our pick to win the 2011 Men’s Wimbeldon title: Roger Federer at +200.
Good luck with all your tennis bets!
With Wimbledon 2010 well and truly underway, we have already seen the greatest match in history with Isner beating Mahut 70-68 in the fifth set. That is unheard of, a truly remarkable match. UK bookmakers took over $18 million on this match.
Wimbledon 2010 Betting – Men’s Winner
The men’s outright winner market looks a little uncertain at the moment. Both Federer and Nadal have been taken to five sets and look below their best. Like any Grand Slam in recent years, they were the pre-tournament favourites.
The current betting market at Wimbledon 2010 has seen Nadal shorten in to a $2.80 favourite. Federer isn’t far behind with odds of $2.88. Andy Murray looks like he’s playing well and even the Queen has been on hand to watch him play. He’s at odds of $7.00 to win this year.
Wimbledon 2010 Betting – Women’s Winner
I can’t see the William’s Sisters love affair with Wimbledon changing this year. As far as I’m concerned it’s a matter of which one.
Serena is at $2.62, while Venus is at $4.00. If you’re looking for a little more value then Kim Clijsters is at $7.00 and Justine Henin is at $8.00.
According to an Australian bookmaker representative, Aussie punters tend to bet on the individual matches and leave the outright winner betting until the end.
Punters here obviously feel there is more value and money to be had by betting on the individual matches. To take advantage of the odds available online, I recommend opening bookmaker accounts at all the major Australian bookmakers. That way if you fancy a flutter, you can be sure you are getting the best possible odds.

This is my tip for the winner of the the women’s 2009 Wimbledon Championship. I think the Williams sisters have waned and the others are not up to scratch. I believe that Sharapova (even though her screaming is highly irritating) will win.
Her form recently has been encouraging and a good sign of things to come in this tournament. Even though she is an outsider, I believe she will progress quickly through her rounds and will most definitely be in the final of the 2009 Women’s Wimbledon Championship.
Best Bets on Women’s 2009 Wimbledon Championship
My best bets are for Maria Sharapova to reach the final and to win the final. Betfair has Sharapova paying $5.10 to reach the final and $14.50 to win it.
My suggestion to punters is to have $100 on each scenario. My inbside tip is to have $500 on her next match. She plays Dulko and is currently paying $1.38 on Betfair. Her win against this candidate will pay for your next bets which will be the ones previously stated.
Get on.

Just get on him. Federer will win. Andy Murray has no heart. He cannot continue to play at a level that is required to be a regular top 2 player. No doubt the top 2 players at the present time are Rafael Nadal when he is fit and Roger Federer.
On Murray, he has shown in the past that when the pressure is on he can’t handle it. He uses injury as an excuse for not continuing, he has a weak heart. He is not a genuine contender for Wimbledon 2009.
Roger Federer will win without a shadow of a doubt. Put whatever you can afford on him. The best bet yet.
Betfair, which is a leading Australian sportsbook has Roger Federer at $1.76. These are the best odds you will find for him.
Wimbledon 2009 started last night with no real surprises coming out of it. The men’s side of the draw looks like a one horse race at the moment with Roger Federer looking almost unbeatable.
He won in straight sets to easily progress through the the second round of Wimbledon after turning on the style. In my opinion the only person that even has a chance of possibly beating him is Andy Murray. Federer is all class on the grass though and I rally can’t see him losing.
IASbet have Federer at $1.70 to be the 2009 Wimbledon Champion while Sportsbet have him at $1.72. A couple of weeks ago he was at $1.95 and the punters have since jumped on him.
If you fancy an upset then Andy Murray is the next one to look at. He doesn’t seem to perfrom on the big stage a times but this could be his breakthrough tournament? Sportsbet have him at $3.50 to be the 2009 Wimbledon champion while IASbet have him at $3.25.
The women’s side of the draw saw the favourites get through last night as well. Serena Williams keeps her chances of becoming the 2009 Women’s Wimbledon Champion hopes alive after winning her first round match. Maria Sharapova also one in two tight sets.
The Williams sisters are the two stand outs in the women’s section of Wimbledon. The bookies have Serena at around $3.25 and Venus at $4.00. If I had to pick one I would be getting on Venus. 4-1 is pretty solid and she has great history on the grass courts of Wimbledon.
If you want to catch the Wimbledon 2009 action on TV coverage begins at around 11:30pm each night. It is shown on Fox Sports as well as Channel 9 on free to air television.
Looking ahead to the second part of round 1 matches tonight there doesn’t seem to be much value at all. Most of the favourites are paying around $1.10 which is way too short for me. As the round progress we can get a better understanding of the form and can jump on some good things. I suggest that you take a look at the Australian bookmakers that we have on here so you can keep up to date with the latest odds.

Anticipation is building as we come closer to the start of what should be an open affair at the 2009 grass court championships at Wimbledon. The betting on this event has fluctuated as punters speculate on who will come through.
The betting on the mens event is one that is perhaps the most interesting. Roger Federer won the French Open for the first time last month. He has since pulled out of preparation events bcause he is mentally drained.
Rafael Nadal is having more than his fair share of problems as well. After losing to Soderling in the French Open 4th round he has since pulled out of tournaments due to a knee injury. He has said that he is uncertain as to how fit he will be, but he will give 100% no matter what.
This injury saw him blow out to 16-1 at one point and several punters got on him at 11-1. He is now settled at around the 5-1 range. If the betting is anything to go by, we are in for a treat because odds have been fluctuating wildy.
After winning the French Open Roger Federer is at around the 2-1 for sports betting on Wimbledon 2009. I’m not so so sure he should be so short though. I have my doubt, even though he just won his first French Open and 14th Grand Slam.
Even though he won it wasn’t a smooth ride. He almost lost to Tommy Haas and was taken to 5 sets by Juan Martin Del Potro. He has pulled out of tournaments since and the fact that he has said he is mentally drained is worrying to me. I think both Federer and Nadal are too short in the betting on Wimbledon 2009, especially Federer.
For the first time I am going to back Andy Murray. It is rare these days in professional mens tennis that anyone has a look in other than the top 2. He has been in good form and is at home on the grass. I think he can break through for his maidan Grand Slam. Sportsbet has him paying 5-1. While I think it is a tad short for him I will still be jumping on board. I think the 7-1 mark would be better suited, but I won’t be complaining if he wins.
Best Bet for Mens Wimbledon 2009 - Andy Murray – Sportsbet = 5-1

As for the womens event at Wimbledon 2009 I can’t see anyone beating the Williams sisters. I am almost certain the winner will be one of these two. They have both had indifferent form in the lead up but that has never mattered much in the past. They always light up the courts around Wimbledon time.
Out of the two sisters I like Venus better. Her game is better suited to the grass counts and moves better than he sister. She is solid at the net and her serve is lethal of the grass.
The betting on the womens 2009 Wimbledon event is telling the same story that I am. Serena and Venus Williams are the two favourites. Serena is the favourite on SPortsbet at $3.50. Suprisingly Maria Sharapova is the 3rd favourite paying $7.50 on Sportsbet. She has been in terrible form and I don’t think her history on grass is enough to justify those odds. She hasn’t recovered from her time off with injury and I don’t think she will make an impact in the womens draw at Wimbledon 2009.
Womens Wimbledon 2009 best bet – Venus Williams = $4.75 on Sportsbet.
Overall it should be an exciting event to watch in both the mens and womens events. I don’t think the favourites are a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination. I think we could be in for some big upsets. Both events are very open and the betting on Wimbledon 2009 relfects that. The betting has been volatile and rapid fluctuations have become the norm.
