There were massive fluctuations in the odds on the final day of the Second Test between Australia and New Zealand with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au, after both sides looked to have the match wrapped up at different stages.
After starting the day at $7.50 to win the Test, New Zealand’s price was a short as $1.18 after Australia’s ninth wicket fell, only to balloon out to $2.50 just before what was to be the final ball.
Conversely, Australia started the day as almost ‘sure things’ at $1.11, only to drift out to $5.00 after the ninth wicket was lost, then were backed into $1.50 just before losing the Test.
Sportsbet.com.au’s Haydn Lane said: “Punters with a crystal ball could have backed both sides at great odds at different stages of the day to ensure they were a winner regardless of the result!”
Looking ahead to the Boxing Day Test between Australia and New Zealand at the MCG, both sides are priced at $2.70, with the Draw at $3.00.
