Geelong will win the 2009 AFL premiership. At the present time they are paying $1.95 at Sportsbet to secure the flag on final day, but the real betting is in how they will get there.

Will they go the season undefeated or will they succumb to the only other undefeated AFL team in the competition in the huge Round 14 clash, Geelong vs St Kilda?

Iasbet have Geelong $1.95 for the flag and St Kilda $4.00. Centrebet’s 2009 AFL premiership odds are very similar, but are betting a slightly more attractive market at $1.95 Cats and $4.10 for the Saints. With Geelong at $1.95 on Sportsbet for the AFL premiership, they have marked the Saints at $4.00, same as Iasbet.

But all that has moved to the background for now with the looming clash of the AFL heavyweights s in Round 14. St Kilda Saints vs Geelong Cats at Teslstra Dome. Aware of how huge the match will be, the AFL have moved it back to 3:10pm on Sunday 5th July 2009 to ensure it gets maximum coverage.

For many weeks now, Sportsbet and Centrebet and have been taking bets on Geelong or St Kilda to go through the year undefeated.

Centrebet has offered odds has high as $4.40 to punters willing to back the Cats for an undefeated season, but have now crunched that in to $3.65. By comparison they are offering an amazing $9.00 about St Kilda being able to manage the same feat. They had priced them just a few weeks earlier at $10.75.

Sportsbet have taken a similar line offering up $3.50 about the Catters for the clean sweep.

As of Round 14 only one of these teams will still be in the running to take this rare prize and should ensure the game and the hype surrounding it equate to that of a final itself.

As for the actual Round 14 Clash Of The Titans, the odds for the game have the Cats backed in to $1.55 to beat St Kilda, who have eased from an opening $2.25 out to about $2.50, but as they aren’t advertised on the websites, you’ll need to ask for them.

Only one team will walk away from the huge 5th July clash with punter’s dreams intact and at Australian Gambling we’re back the Geelong Cats at both Sportsbet at $3.50 and again at Centrebet at $3.65 to ride the full AFL season unbeaten.

For those that disagree with us, you can bet on the Cats to get beaten sometime this year at $1.28 at Centrebet and $1.30 at Sportsbet, but you’ll be doing your money cold.

Best bet of the century is to back Australia with whatever you’ve got. In the 1st game Australia are paying $1.71 at Betfair to win the series. Just get on.

We will win this test. Extra extra special – Australia will win the first game. Ponting will score 100 and Philip Hughes will score 100 also. Brett Lee will take 5 wickets for under 60 runs which everyone is laughing about now.

Australia is paying $2.34 at Betfair to win the first game of The Ashes 2009. Depending on the weather – put all you’ve got including your socks and jacket on them. These are unbelievable odds.

Query: Where is Andrew Flintoff? He’s the mystery man. If he’s in, halve your bet. Otherwise triple it.

Let’s go.

This is my tip for the winner of the the women’s 2009 Wimbledon Championship. I think the Williams sisters have waned and the others are not up to scratch. I believe that Sharapova (even though her screaming is highly irritating) will win.

Her form recently has been encouraging and a good sign of things to come in this tournament. Even though she is an outsider, I believe she will progress quickly through her rounds and will most definitely be in the final of the 2009 Women’s Wimbledon Championship.

Best Bets on Women’s 2009 Wimbledon Championship

My best bets are for Maria Sharapova to reach the final and to win the final. Betfair has Sharapova paying $5.10 to reach the final and $14.50 to win it.

My suggestion to punters is to have $100 on each scenario. My inbside tip is to have $500 on her next match. She plays Dulko and is currently paying $1.38 on Betfair. Her win against this candidate will pay for your next bets which will be the ones previously stated.

Get on.

Just get on him. Federer will win. Andy Murray has no heart. He cannot continue to play at a level that is required to be a regular top 2 player. No doubt the top 2 players at the present time are Rafael Nadal when he is fit and Roger Federer.

On Murray, he has shown in the past that when the pressure is on he can’t handle it. He uses injury as an excuse for not continuing, he has a weak heart. He is not a genuine contender for Wimbledon 2009.

Roger Federer will win without a shadow of a doubt. Put whatever you can afford on him. The best bet yet.

Betfair, which is a leading Australian sportsbook has Roger Federer at $1.76. These are the best odds you will find for him.

That should be the headline after tomorrow night’s State Of Origin clash. The QLD 2009 side are the best Maroons side in the history of State Of Origin. QLD will win tomorrow night by 13+ even though they are playing in enemy territory where they haven’t performed well in the past. The all Australian backline will produce the goods and show what a failure Trent Barrett is.

Barrett has been chosen before and has been shown up in the past and been caught below standard. My predicition is that Wayne Bennett will be called in to co-help Craig Belllamy to stop a record 5th series loss in a row next year.

The selectors are gone. They have done their dash.

Sportsbet have the Maroons paying $3.30 to win by 13+. Get on.

State Of Origin Game 2, 2009 kicks of tomorrow night in what should be an interesting game to watch. The NSW Blues have made a host of changes to their lineup for both tactical and injury reasons.

There are no certainties in this match but I have a feeling it is going to be a close one. There is no doubt in my mind that the QLD Maroons have a much better side in terms of quality and stars. Whether or not they can win away from home is a different story.

With the introduction of Trent Barrett in to the halves, it should provide much needed experience to direct the team around. Peter Wallace will have to lift his game substantially if the Blues are going to win this one.

Whatever the outcome is in this match, I still think the Maroons will win State Of Origin Game 3. For game 2 though, even though QLD are the favourites I think the Blues will sneak home in a tight one.

Best Bet for 2009 State Of Origin Game 2

As I just alluded to I think the NSW will get up in a close one. You can get some great value by taking them to win by 1-12.

The best sports betting odds for them are at Sportsbet. They are paying $3.65 which will get a good return on your money. If you don’t already have an account there you can get the added benefit of a free bet. Check out the official website for further details.

IASbet are the next best Australian bookmaker option for betting on the State Of Origin. They are offering odds of $3.50 for NSW to win by 1-12.

While QLD are deserved favourites I don’t think it’s as clear cut as the pundits and betting predicts. Jump on the value here and you will have a good chance of it coming through. The Blues always perform well at home no matter what side they put on the paddock.

Wimbledon 2009 started last night with no real surprises coming out of it. The men’s side of the draw looks like a one horse race at the moment with Roger Federer looking almost unbeatable.

He won in straight sets to easily progress through the the second round of Wimbledon after turning on the style. In my opinion the only person that even has a chance of possibly beating him is Andy Murray. Federer is all class on the grass though and I rally can’t see him losing.

IASbet have Federer at $1.70 to be the 2009 Wimbledon Champion while Sportsbet have him at $1.72. A couple of weeks ago he was at $1.95 and the punters have since jumped on him.

If you fancy an upset then Andy Murray is the next one to look at. He doesn’t seem to perfrom on the big stage a times but this could be his breakthrough tournament? Sportsbet have him at $3.50 to be the 2009 Wimbledon champion while IASbet have him at $3.25.

The women’s side of the draw saw the favourites get through last night as well. Serena Williams keeps her chances of becoming the 2009 Women’s Wimbledon Champion hopes alive after winning her first round match. Maria Sharapova also one in two tight sets.

The Williams sisters are the two stand outs in the women’s section of Wimbledon. The bookies have Serena at around $3.25 and Venus at $4.00. If I had to pick one I would be getting on Venus. 4-1 is pretty solid and she has great history on the grass courts of Wimbledon.

If you want to catch the Wimbledon 2009 action on TV coverage begins at around 11:30pm each night. It is shown on Fox Sports as well as Channel 9 on free to air television.

Looking ahead to the second part of round 1 matches tonight there doesn’t seem to be much value at all. Most of the favourites are paying around $1.10 which is way too short for me. As the round progress we can get a better understanding of the form and can jump on some good things. I suggest that you take a look at the Australian bookmakers that we have on here so you can keep up to date with the latest odds.

Keep checking back here on Australian Gambling as we offer the latest tips on Wimbledon and the best bets of each night.

The NSW State of Origin team for game 2 in 2009 has been released just minutes ago. Notable inclusions include Trent Barrett from the Cronulla Sharks at Five-Eighth. Anthony Watmough has also been added to the bench. Here is the complete lineup of the Blues team for State of Origin Game 2:

    1. Kurt Gidley (captain)
    2. Jarryd Hayne
    3. Jamie Lyon
    4. Michael Jennings
    5. David Williams
    6. Trent Barrett
    7. Peter Wallace
    8. Brent Kite
    9. Robbie Farah
    10. Michael Weyman
    11. Ben Creagh
    12. Luke O’Donnell
    13. Paul Gallen

    Interchange:

    14. Craig Wing
    15. Justin Poore
    16. Glenn Stewart
    17. Anthony Watmough

    Shadow Players:

    Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
    Joel Monaghan
    Josh Morris

So Terry Campese and James McManus have been left of of the State of Origin team for game 2. There are some injury clouds over some of the team so players like Josh Morris are on the bench. All in all it looks like a slightly stronger team than we saw in game one.

If the halves can combine better than they have in the past then we could be in for a good show. It’s about time the Blues up to be counted. They have been labelled as an embarrassment by former players and heroes. The time has come for them to win their pride back.

You can bet on the game at Sportsbet.
