NRL Betting 2013

National Rugby League (NRL) is one of the top two sports to bet on in Australia (AFL betting is the other one). Depending on where you grew up will probably determine how interested you are in NRL.

As such a popular sport, the best Aussie books offer some very good NRL promotions throughout the season. Each of the bookies listed below offer online & mobile betting, plus a variety of NRL bonuses and free bets.

Best NRL Bookmakers

At AustralianGambling.com.au we promote the best three online bookmakers. Out of those three we strongly believe Centrebet Australia is the best bookmaker for Rugby League betting.

It’s not hard to work that out, and for the sports fan or intermediate gambler it’s not a difficult proposition. They sponsor NRL teams like the Penrith Panthers, have a sponsored stadium Centrebet Stadium and have live NRL odds on TV on The Footy Show and other media publications.

The official Centrebet website has weekly NRL tips and the gorgeous Lauren Eagle as its ambassador! It does a great job of providing punters with information on where the biggest bets have been placed, latest NRL odds, point spread, first try scorer and NRL premiership winner.

The next best options are obviously Sportingbet Australia and Sportsbet Australia.

2013 NRL Premiership Betting

The 2013 NRL premiership betting odds are now out and before the season starts we’ll have automatically updated live odds available for you to consistently check out. There has already been a fair bit of movement in the 2013 NRL betting market with the surprise being the South Sydney Rabbitohs who are absolutely on fire and crunched into outright second favourites for the premiership.

The Cronulla Sharks have also begun the season in a blaze despite the massive internal troubles and has put their 2012 easy beats tag to rest and now sit just inside the top 8 with a realistic shot at semi finals football.

At the other end of the spectrum St George Dragons and New Zealand Warriors who would have been at onetime considered top 8 chances for 2013, have lost all form and are now rank outsiders for the 2013 NRL Premiership.

This page will be regularly updated throughout the 2013 NRL season with the latest betting trends and big bigs, along with tips and predictions on the NRL 2013 season.

Sportsbet, Iasbet and Sportingbet all offer NRL Premiership betting odds and you’d be well advised to compare all markets before placing your bets. They will all be fairly close in price but differences of $1-$2 in the top end and over $10-$20 for the outsiders can be found by doing your punting homework. For example you can get $101 about the Warriors with Sportsbet compared to $81 with Centrebet, but Centrebet has Melbourne Storm at $4.25 while you only getting $4.00 at Sportbet. These differences are common.

2013 NRL Tips

We pride ourselves here at AustralianGambling.com.au on giving the best NRL tips we can. If you followed our tips in 2011 and 2012, a lot of you would have won your tipping comps. Our 2013 NRL tips are available in this section every week, so keep checking back for the latest updates.

NRL Fantasy Football 2013

Fantasy Football is taking Australia by storm of late. We personally recommend the real money fantasy football at Sportingbet. You can win prizes, and throw on some bets within the same account.

If you don’t want to go to a bookmaker then Fox Sports fantasy NRL is another great option.

Bet on NRL

There are tons of different NRL bet types, most are very straight forward and don’t need explaining. Like if you are betting on the NRL Grand Final, futures betting, Clive Churchill Medal Betting, Daily M Betting, State Of Origin Betting (SOO) or betting on a particular match you’ll more than likely know what you are doing. I’ll list the main bets that Australians like to bet on the NRL with and explain some briefly.

Head to Head Betting

Bet on winning rugby league team.

Margin Betting

Tip a team to win between 1-12 points or by 13+.

Clive Churchill Betting

Bet on man of the match in NRL Grand Final.

NRL Premiership Betting

Bet on the NRL team that you think will win the 2012 NRL premiership.

Line or Handicap Betting

This is a personal favourite for Americans, but growing in popularity here in Australia. You bet on the handicap that is decided by the NRL bookmaker and you decide if the team will win by more or less than that margin.

I’ll use an example to explain simply: If the line bet on Manly is +5.5 it means that if they lose by 5 points, the bet wins, but if they lose by 6, the bet loses. If Manly are -5.5 they must win by 6 or more for the bet to win.

NRL Futures Betting

Futures betting refers to bets that are made, that won’t get a result until the event finishes or betting markets close. An example of futures betting is the NRL premiership betting, top 4 betting, top 8 betting, make the grand final and wooden spoon.

NRL Wooden Spoon Betting

The wooden spoon is a colloquial term for coming last in the regular football season.

Half Time / Full Time Betting

This is quite a difficult bet in my opinion, if you are tipping both the result at half time and full time. This is a bet I refer to by statistics for. How many times has this NRL team led at half time? How many points do they score in the first half? How many times have they overturned a half time deficit to win the match? How many times has a team led at half time and gone on to win the match? These are all important questions I ask myself when I want to bet on the half time / full time double.

NRL Multi Bets

A personal favourite of mine is to bet on a two legged multi bet on the NRL, using margins. For example, I’ll have Dragons 13+ into Tigers 1-12 and put $50 on it. Normally I’d get odds of about $10.00 on these bets and are a great bit of fun, especially on Friday night double headers.

Exotics and Other Bets

  • First and Last Try scorer
  • First Scoring Play
  • Man of the Match
  • Exact Score
  • Exact Winning Margin
  • First Team to Score
  • Half Time Result
  • Number of Tries
  • Total Match Points (I like this. Weather and stats obviously play a big part).

We recommend having accounts at several different NRL bookmakers, but for a full suite of betting options www.Centrebet.com is the best option to bet on the NRL.
