French Early Favourites In Six Nations Betting
By Kevin Pitstock - February 3, 2012
France have been installed as $2.40 favourite by online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to win the 2012 Six-Nations Rugby Championship ahead of Wales ($4.00), defending champions England and Ireland (both $5.00).
Scotland are a $26 chance and Italy are the rank outsiders at $151.
“There has been some interest on Wales to go all the way. In fact, we’ve had twice as many bets on them to win it compared to the rest,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
In Sunday’s first round of matches, France are at $1.02 and Italy are at $13 with the line set at -21.0 points where $1.91 is on offer while England are $1.62 favourites for their clash with Scotland – the Scots are $2.32 outsiders.
Despite the loss of Brian O’Driscoll, Ireland are tipped to comfortably beat Wales on Monday after being installed at $1.45 and the Welsh at $2.78.
“The punters have been very interested in the Ireland versus Wales game with allegiances split down the middle,” Hawes said.
